We've always believed that there is a narrative hidden in the Siete canciones populares españolas by Manuel de Falla. We give shape to this hidden story. The Danzas Argentinas by Alberto Ginastera are the first published composition by one of the leading Latin American composers of the 20th century. A set of three highly contrasting dances for piano solo, these pieces cry out for the choreography in which Irene Álvarez specialises. The climax of the evening is more Ginastera: his Cinco canciones populares argentinas. Voice, piano and dance come together in these dances, at turns lively, exciting, tender and intimate.
